DET 120+ in 30 Days Is Now on Kindle
The ebook edition is live at USD 12.99, against 27.99 for the paperback. Same content either way — but the two are not interchangeable. Here is how to pick the one that fits how you study.
DET 120+ in 30 Days
Sam R. Hur · Duolingo English Test prep workbook
Prices and availability vary by marketplace.
Hey everyone, Teacher Sam here.
The Kindle edition of DET 120+ in 30 Days is out.
Same content. Thirteen chapters across three parts, the same practice questions, the same 30-day plan. The page count runs slightly lower because the blank spacer pages from the print layout were removed.
But before you click, one honest paragraph.
The two editions are not interchangeable. This book was designed as a workbook, and a workbook assumes you can write on it.
Which edition suits you depends less on price than on how you actually study. So let me lay out both.
Choosing a format
Paperback or ebook?
Choose print if…
- You want to write directly on the practice pages
- You plan to annotate, underline, or mark your progress as you go
- You are a tutor teaching from the book in a classroom
- You prefer a physical workbook you can keep open beside you
Choose digital if…
- You want it today, at under half the price
- You study in more than one place, or you travel
- You read on a tablet or a large-screen phone
- You would rather carry 289 pages on a device than in a bag
If you are running the 30-day plan as a full course, the paperback is closer to how the book was built. If you want the material with you wherever you are, the ebook does that better.
Before you buy
One thing to know about the Kindle edition
The pages are the printed pages. Text does not reflow to fit your screen, and you cannot change the font size the way you can with a standard reflowable ebook.
What does work
- Table of contents navigation and page jumps
- Zoom, on any device
- Internal links — the chapter references in the front matter take you straight there
On the devices I tested, standard Kindle features like search and highlighting were available too. Whether they behave the same on yours depends on your device and app version.
The original is 8.5 × 11, so even scaled down the type holds up. Tablets and computers are the most comfortable. Large-screen phones are fine — I checked on mine. Smaller screens will need some zooming.
Which is another reason to use the free sample
Amazon offers one on every Kindle title. Open it on the device you actually plan to study on before you buy. That takes thirty seconds and settles the question better than anything I can tell you.
Inside
What is in the book
Chapter 7 introduces TSM — Topic, Support, Meaning — a structure for building complete responses under time pressure. It is not a script to memorize. It is a way to organize your own ideas and carry them through to a finished answer.
The chapter puts weak and strong closings side by side, then shows the complete response built from them.
How to use it
Is thirty days a deadline?
No.
Thirty days is a suggested study schedule, not a deadline. You can move faster or take longer depending on where you are starting and how much time you have. For one reader that might be two weeks. For another, three months.
What matters is getting through it once.
And you do not have to go in order.
Start with whatever is weakest. If photo tasks are the problem, open Chapter 8 and work through the score-band expressions there before touching anything else. The calendar in the appendix is a reference, not a rule.
Included with both
The audio files
Both editions come with the same 66 audio files, and the process is identical either way. Go to the download page, click through to the form, enter your email, and the link appears on the confirmation screen. Two or three clicks.
If you already own the paperback, nothing changes. Your download still works.

Questions I expect
Is the ebook content different from the paperback?
No. Thirteen chapters, three parts, the same practice questions and answer keys. The page count differs slightly because the blank spacer pages from the print layout were removed.
Can I change the font size in the ebook?
No. The Kindle edition uses a fixed layout, so the pages match the print edition and text does not reflow. Zoom works on every device, and the original 8.5 by 11 format means the type holds up when scaled down.
Will it read well on a phone?
On a large-screen phone, yes. Smaller screens will need some zooming. Open the free Amazon sample on the device you plan to study on before buying.
Do ebook buyers get the audio files?
Yes. Both editions come with the same 66 audio files through the same download page, at no extra cost.
Do I have to finish the book in thirty days?
No. Thirty days is a suggested schedule. You can move faster or slower, and you do not have to work through the chapters in order.
Kindle is the ebook. Paperback is the print edition.
